Site down, your name servers are down

I am having trouble reaching my website http://example.com/ from different networks. Are your nameservers working properly?

Response

Hi John

Thanks for reaching out and I am sorry for the hassle here! Looking at our records, it looks like you are not delegating DNS management to Cloudflare. Your NS records look like this:

❯ host -t NS example.com
example.com name server a.iana-servers.net.
example.com name server b.iana-servers.net.

You can also confirm how the records resolve across the globe using DNSChecker: https://dnschecker.org/#NS/example.com

Feel free to check out our DNS documentation on how to properly configure the records
on our platform as well as how to navigate the most frequent issues. In the meantime,
I would recommend updating the NS records to the ones provided in your Cloudflare.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

All the best

Gualter

Rationale

On this example I assumed the issue was the incorrect NS records thus not delegating management to Cloudflare. I led with stating the facts, then point the customer to our docs so they can self-serve next time and hopefully manage this on their own.

I always like using dnschecker to show our records are resolving worldwide (sometimes records resolve locally on their region but haven't fully propagated yet).
